At the age of 18, weighing over 250-pounds with a 40-inch
waist, David Berger struggled to climb a single flight of
stairs. Being a high-school drop out, smoking a pack
of cigarettes a day, he was not the example of healthy living
that he is today. At a pivotal moment, David considered
ending his life or changing it. Thankfully, he chose
to live his life to the fullest!
Having always wanted to see the world from the other side
of the glass, David’s journey began when he quit smoking.
He also decided that he would immediately begin eating healthier
and exercising, climbing a single flight of stairs a day and
adding another flight each week. He also started performing
callisthenic exercises. Through his commitment to his
consistent and progressive approach, he lost over 88-pounds
and 6-inches from his waist within one year! With his
newfound confidence gained from regular exercise and a healthier
lifestyle, David received his GED (General Equivalency Diploma)
and went on to earn a degree in Kinesiology from West Chester
University. In addition, David became a certified Health &
Fitness instructor with the gold standard American College
of Sports Medicine.
David’s passion to help others achieve health, fitness
and weight loss goals pulled him away from his early work
with a professional basketball team. He desperately
wanted to make a difference in people’s lives through
exercise which compelled him to start Progressive Fitness
Coaching, and most recently the launch of the NUMBER
ONE ME DVD and web community
with exercasts!
The same principles and practices that David uses to improve
his fitness and well-being are the same that are used by all
Progressive Fitness coaches to assist others in their pursuit
to personal best
David Berger once gasped up a flight of stairs. Since
then he has completed three marathons and several triathlons
(two Xterras)! He has coached many individuals in completing
their first events, from the 5K to the marathon. David
continues to coach others to their Personal Best today.
